JLF advises on MBO of Owben Engineering

Established in 2011, Owben has grown significantly over the years earning a reputation as a leading provider of bespoke electrical and mechanical engineering services, and won the coveted SME Business of the Year at the 2023 Sunderland Echo Business Excellence Awards.

The deal sees founders Richard Walsh and Lee Finney exiting, and the management team consisting of Andrew Corsar, Andrew Halpin, Anthony Holmes and Anthony Joice taking over.

Commenting on the transaction, M&A heavyweight Jabad Jaigirdar said: “As corporate lawyers, we are in a privileged position, working closely with entrepreneurs, CEOs and founders through what can be genuinely life changing moments. A business exit is one of them, and it’s not worth getting wrong. We were, therefore, delighted to have been selected by the founders to represent them on their career defining moment.

“As we work for buyers and sellers alike, we know how best to approach drafting or commenting on the legal documents in any particular context, whether it’s a light touch or something more aggressive, our clients will always be at the leading edge of the market.

“We are confident Owben with its strong market position, and loyal customer base will continue to thrive in the hands of its new owners and experienced management team.”
